10Time helps you organize your work into projects and categories. This setup allows you the freedom to organize your work so that it matches your style and preferences. For example you can choose to setup your clients as projects. Or you can have a single 10Time project for each contract you do. That way you have multiple projects for the same client in 10Time. You could also choose to set up releases or iterations as a Project. Projects can be nested, to create sub projects.

In 10Time this chapter is called Projects by default, but you can change this name to match your own terminology. You can call your projects: files, folders, clients, releases, sites, locations, events, contracts, products... there is no obligatory path to take. It's up to you.

If you have a lot of team members, not all team members will work on the same projects. Therefor you can assign team members to projects. Team members can only log hours on projects they're assigned to. As usual, changing the assigned team members for a certain project is as simple and straightforward as possible. In addition to this, you can also enter a custom hourly rate for a team member working on a certain project. This rate will override the default hourly rate for the team member. The right hourly rate will automatically be used for calculations in your reports.

For every project, you can also define a budget (in hours and/or in money). When you create a report, you can see exactly whether you have exceeded your budget or not.

Most project leads need to manage multiple projects concurrently. There are always dynamics. A project that's hot can end up in the fridge for a long time and then all of a sudden live up again. To accommodate these dynamics in your projects you can activate or deactivate them at will. When a project has been deactivated, hours can no longer be logged to it. A deactivated project does not count towards your plan.

The plan you choose defines the number of projects you can have simultaneously active at one time.

Most of the information that you can enter for a project is optional. All you need is a name for your project and a project lead or administrator. This is the team member responsible for this project. A great tip is to enter prospects or request for proposals as new project in 10Time. That way you can start logging hours from even before the project starts. This allows you to see the complete amount of time taken up by acquisition as well as a total number of hours spend on the project as a whole, including acquisition.

Assign you internal project number or code and a project lead. Then enter the project name and maybe add a short description. Also notice that there is no need to click any edit buttons if you want to edit project information. Just left click on the field and change any information you need right away. Click out of the field and your updates are saved.

Saving is done in the background and you are signaled with a visual reference when saving is complete. There is no need to wait for a page reload, no more frustration of forgetting to click the save button. You can enter or edit a series of projects one after another quickly.

To enhance overview project details can be hidden or expanded by clicking on the hide or show buttons.
